Hex head coach screw (lag screw), 8 x 50mm or 8 x 75mm, for heavy-duty fixing of timber and brackets.
Description
Coach screws are heavy wood screws with a hex head, driven with a spanner or socket. They hold timber beams, posts, ledgers and heavy brackets firmly.
Drill a pilot hole about two-thirds of the screw diameter, and use a washer under the head on timber. With suitable heavy-duty wall plugs, they also fix into brick and concrete. Galvanised or plated finishes resist rust in damp areas.
Used for:
- Decks, pergolas and carports
- Fixing ledgers and posts
- Heavy brackets and gate hardware
