Description

A long screw is a galvanised nipple with a long thread on one end, supplied complete with a socket and backnut. It works like a union: it lets you join two fixed pipes, or remove a section of line, without turning the whole run.

Wrap male threads with PTFE tape or hemp and paste before assembly, and do not over-tighten into cast fittings. Lock the backnut against the socket with hemp and paste for a watertight seal.

Used for:

• Joining two fixed galvanised pipes
• Repairs to old galvanised lines
• Connections that may need to come apart

Not for gas lines unless the installation is done and certified by a registered gas installer.

Sold each, complete with socket and backnut.
