A Curv-O-Mark No. 27 holder for flat soapstone, so welders and fitters can mark steel with a clean, steady line.
Description
Soapstone leaves a mark that survives heat, so it is the usual way to mark cut and weld lines on steel. The Curv-O-Mark catalogue lists No. 27 as the flat holder (No. 26 is the round one). It has a pocket clip and holds the soapstone firmly so it does not snap in use.
Slide a flat soapstone in, set how far it sticks out, and lock it. Sharpen the stone to a chisel edge on a file or grinding block for a fine line. Replacement flat soapstones fit the same holder.
