Alpen Sprint Master HSS drill bits with a reduced (turned-down) shank, so 12mm to 17.5mm holes can be drilled with a standard 13mm or 10mm chuck.
Description
The large sizes of Alpen’s Sprint Master HSS metal drill, made with a reduced shank: the shank is turned down below the cutting diameter so the bit fits an ordinary drill chuck. The red shank marks the reduced-shank range. Alpen lists the 12mm and 13mm sizes with a 9.5mm shank.
Use it in a drill press or a strong drill with a side handle, at low speed and with cutting oil. Drill a pilot hole first in steel thicker than a few millimetres.
Used for:
- Large holes in steel plate and channel
- Gland and conduit holes in metal boxes
- Drilling aluminium and brass
Not for masonry, tiles or concrete.
